Gayatree Sarma – Profile

Gayatree Sarma is a singer with a mellifluous voice. Born in a music-loving family, Gayatree has cultivated a systematic and disciplined training under the guidance of Mandira Lahiri of Calcutta. She has completed M. Muse (Master of Music) from Bhatkhande Sangit Vidyapith, Lucknow, along with her academic degree of in Botany from Guwahati University. She is a former vocal artist of All India Radio and Guwahati Doordarshan. She has received “National Scholarship” awarded by Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India in 1998. Had won multiple gold medals in classical and light classical (vocal) competition in inter college youth festival under Guwahati University . She has multiple music albums to her credit.She has been performing (golden oldies, semi classical and classical numbers in many Bengali and Indian organizations in USA since 2003.

Gayatree Sarma established her music school ‘Rageshree Sangeet Vidyalaya’, in 2003 in Nj.USA. Since then she has been imparting vocal training on Hindustani classical, semi-classical, Bhajan and other classical based hindi songs to a large number of students in various age groups in New Jersey/New York area. She also teaches Bengali songs :Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul geeti. A perfectionist by nature, the way Gayatree trains her students with patience, full dedication and sincerity.
